MY FUR ORDERS CAME IN YAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW I CAN START SEWING MY FURSUIT.

Also, after a ton of pattern and sewing-related errors and having to rip a lot of seams, I finally finished Sediea's hat and have a set of working templates I can use for future hats.

So, here it is:

Yes, the photo is failtastic. >.> I don't have a mannequin head, so I just shoved some crumpled-up paper in there and propped it up. I'll try to work out a better way of getting pictures soon...and a better location than my bathroom.

So, how'd I make it? I cut some fleece into four sections that tapered off at the tip, fumbled around with an ear pattern before finally settling on something that kinda works (it's in a similar shape to the four sections,) then sewed those together. Then I cut out a four-inch wide brim (about 23 inches long, which is about [personal profile] sediea 's head circumference, sewed that together at the end, folded it in half, then stitched it to the rest of the hat.

Everything on this hat is blanket-stitched, which will hopefully make it pretty sturdy. I think my blanket stitch has vastly improved since I started this! It didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but it still ended up something like I planned it to be.

I still enjoyed doing this a lot, and I hope to make more of them. ^_^ I will be taking commissions once I feel I'm good enough, but for now they're closed to friends. [personal profile] feathertail has requested one, and I'll be working on that next along with my fursuit and my story commissions (which are started, believe it or not!) I will probably update with those this week.

So, I think things are going in a good direction. ;) Until then!

Again, this looks very nice and professional. ^.^ I'm sure Sediea will love it.

Who needs a mannequin when you have your own head. You make a good costume model, and I have pictures to prove it. :p

Anyway, as I said before, it's adorable, I love it, and I can't wear to wear it. Thank you thank you. <3

Oooo, that looks FAB. I have a kitty-ear hat like that from a store, that's not bad, but I actually like yours better.

SO signing up for one when you open commissions. ^^

Um. Well. Anything at all resembling fuzzy wolf ears would be really cool. >.> OH, and do you know how to make, um, aviator style, I think? With the flaps down over the ears, and the... *finds a link* KINDA LIKE THIS.
