One day at the Belle Chere art festival last year, I ran into some young men carrying very large signs. This is not an uncommon sight at Belle Chere. Sometimes the signs offer free hugs, but most of the time it's your run-of-the-mill Baptist street preacher. There are lots of Baptist street preachers at Belle Chere. I think they clone themselves or something.

Either way, their cloning program was in high gear, because the sign-holders were indeed street preachers. These fellows had a wonderful message to share with the Belle Chere community which was as follows:

ALL HOMOSEXUALS
ADULTERERS
FORNICATORS
DRUG USERS
CATHOLICS
FEMINISTS
DEMOCRATS
ROCK-AND-ROLLERS
WILL GO TO HELL!!! ACCEPT CHRIST AS YOUR LORD TODAY

As an asexual furry metalhead anarchist Christian Mystic, I am relieved to know that I'm one of the lucky few whom God will accept into heaven. Maybe I'm just too metal for hell?

Why don't they just hold out signs that say "ALL WILL BE DOMINION-ATED / RESISTANCE IS FUTILE?"

I don't know, but I think I'll have to do that next Belle Chere as a joke.

Probably while wearing a tail, ear-hat, and collar for maximum humor value. (I would wear a fursuit, but it's too hot do do that. x_x)

Baptists (or rather Dominionist Baptists, which composes almost all of Baptists in this area) hate Catholics because they're not Baptists. And they think that venerating saints=idolatry. They also think that if there's a remote possibility you enjoy anything more than praying, that's idolatry too.

...Yes, really. There is no logic in Dominion theology. >_>; They probably think that what is currently known about the history of Christianity is really a trap sent by Satan to lead you off the True and Righteous Path (TM, patent pending.)

Sad, but not surprising. >_> But generally speaking, they're usually raised in that atmosphere and don't know a whole lot else. It's an issue of being misinformed, in my experience. Not that it makes them any easier to deal with. x_x
