Well, in about two hours I'm going to be bailing out of NC and escaping to Atlanta. I'll be going out with [livejournal.com profile] cybershepherd and some of his friends to meet [personal profile] feathertail and the NC furs. I have to say this is the first time I've been nervous about a con since my first time at AMA...though I'm still more nervous about plans falling through than anything else. ^^; I've haphazardly thrown a schedule together for myself, at least.

Wish me luck, guys. ._.b

I went to my second furmeet yesterday at the park, and it was win. :D I had so much fun.

Cookouts and sparring and stargazing, oh my! )
All in all, it was an extremely fun, eventful Saturday, and now I'm really hyped for FWA. ^_^ But in the meantime, I'm loving going to these meets. :3

SEWING.

MY FUR ORDERS CAME IN YAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW I CAN START SEWING MY FURSUIT.

Also, after a ton of pattern and sewing-related errors and having to rip a lot of seams, I finally finished Sediea's hat and have a set of working templates I can use for future hats.

Pic in here! Also construction notes. )

Firstly, happy holidays everyone. ^_^ Hope everyone's is going well. For once, mine is...so of course this means I have to talk about it. >_>

Is this Christmastime? )

Sediea's story is finally done! Actually it was done a few days ago, I just forgot to update here. ^^; Details, details. The story is here! It's also on my FurAffinity page if anyone's interested. I'm not especially proud of how it came out, but...well, it happened, and I think some of the ideas behind it were good.

So, basically right now my queue is looking like this...

Yeah, it's below the cut, along with more tl;dr )

Anyway, that's how things are going now. ^_^ Sorry it took so long to update, microblogging is so easy in comparison it's easy to forget about my main blog.

Just so you know I'm not dead, and actually working on things...

...I'm sewing while listening to death metal! )

A writing update will be forthcoming. I am almost done with Sediea's commission, and after hers is finished, I'll get to the rest of my queue. Then I'll be picking up some backlog...and Anomie is at the bottom of my list. That being said, I already have part of the third chapter written, so it isn't forgotten. ;) Just on the backburner.
rev_yurodivy: My chimera fursona smirking and tapping the brim of her hat. (Default)
As promised, here's the current commission/request queue and progress on my own stories! And the only reason my own projects are closer to being done is I didn't start taking requests and commissions until very recently.

Commission

Sediea: 20% done

Requests

Aleph: outlined
Stormkit: outlining

Personal stories

Anomie: the Will to Power (part 2): 80% done
Devils in the House of God: End of Innocence (part 1): 10% done

In other news, I finally figured out how to do a blanket stitch, a.k.a. the only other stitch I will ever need to learn (aside from a regular hemming stitch.) I'm going to be moving from cloth to felt and fleece now. The fact the cheap cloth I have keeps fraying for no reason, aside from being cheap, is one more reason to do this. >.>

Ack ack ack. Okay, it's been way too long since I've updated my LJ. x_x Hopefully the crossposting from Dreamwidth will work. (Read about that on Feathertail's journal!)

Long story short, travel, school and preoccupation with some new projects got in the way. My travel logs are pretty dull and school is worse, so it's probably best to talk about the project.

And here it is. Oh yeah, I'm at the furry point of no return here. My writings and such now will primarily go here, as opposed to my hard drive which is where they'd been taking up residence before. I already have one story up, called Anomie! It's a collab between myself and Tachyon which will be...er...however long it ends up being. I'm trying to teach myself to write on the fly here.

I'm open for commissions and requests right now! The commission/request guidelines are here. I do have a queue up, with one potential commission, a commission, and a request. When I get that sorted out I'll update the journal with a full queue.

This is the collab! It's written almost entirely by me (Tachyon did the first paragraph or so) and co-planned and...er...co-world-build'd. Hopefully it's enjoyable. I did like writing it, and it's probably one of the first things I've genuinely enjoyed wriitng in a long time.

I'm also teaching myself to sew, and that could warrant some picture updates. Try not to laugh too hard at my efforts. >.>

Anyway, yeah, that's about what's been going on. Exciting, I know. I'll be posting the story links when I finish them as well, so that should give me some incentive to actually update. ^^;

AMA AND BIRTHDAY IN TWO DAYS WHOOOOOOOOOOO

And now that I have that out of my system, I'll try to be more coherent. So, as I mentioned in the Animazement con report, (I think) I'm going to go to Anime Mid-Atlantic this weekend. ^_^ I'm not going to be technically cosplaying, though I've got the materials for a Naoto cosplay. I have, however, got together a pretty nice steampunk outfit. :3 Definitely looking forward to showing that off on Saturday! Naoto will have to wait until Dragon*Con, NekoCon or Anime USA, if I can make either, I'm afraid.

Anime USA is looking a little grim, since it's during Thanksgiving and if I skip out on the annual Faust family Thanksgiving gathering in order to go to a larger gathering in Virginia oriented towards people who like watching Japanese cartoons, reading Japanese comics, and playing Japanese video games in order to dress up as a video game character, hear other people talk about cartoons and video games, and meet people I know from the Internet, I'll pretty much be the subject of gossip for years to come. As you have probably inferred, I am not exactly on great terms with my dad's side of the family. My mom's side of the family is a lot more supportive of my quirkier hobbies-- in fact, my maternal grandmother is helping me to put together the cosplay.

Speaking of steampunk, I'm working primarily on the Trin rewrite at the moment, along with a fanstory worldbuilding guide that's very nearly finished. The first chapter of Trin is almost done but I keep getting stuck on the fight fgsfds. It's been way too long since I've had to write a fight scene with multiple characters. ._.; I don't know how I pulled it off the first time I wrote Trin since that was pretty much the first time I'd ever written one period, even though looking back on it the whole thing was really clumsily written. Not just the fight scene, everything about it was. *sigh* Oh well. At least I've improved in the past...er...wow, it's been two and a half years. >_> I feel old.

Next big deal: I have a regular paycheck coming in yaaaaaaaaaaaay. This has lead me to some realizations. Realization the first: I have a love/hate relationship with Failtop. I love Failtop because using it means I can be on the Internet and have instant access to writing and music most of my waking hours. I hate Failtop because the former applies only when it feels like cooperating. I've probably got a small compendium of knowledge on how to deal with the many, many hardware issues Dells have and the many, many software issues Windows has. It's gotten to the point where I've started researching workarounds in advance just in case they happen, because they probably will.

For those not in the know, Failtop is my laptop. I call it Failtop because it fails. It's had a host of technical issues ever since I've gotten it, most of which are too numerous to list in this post. Later, perhaps. ;)

Now, realization the second: I would love to have a gaming-quality rig to play SL and FFXI on. Both games...well, they work on Failtop, and that's about the nicest thing I can say. FFXI runs much better than SL, which sputters out on me pretty frequently and goes into the software equivalent of cardiac arrythmia every time I walk into an area with more than four people. I literally have just the bare minimum of the video card specs they ask for. Furthermore, Failtop doesn't have nearly the level of storage space I would like, and those 350 gig hard drives look awful shiny from where I'm standing, what will the mere thirty gigs of space I've got left on Failtop. Also, the wireless on Failtop works erratically at best, even with a functioning adapter thanks to [livejournal.com profile] feathertail . A desktop in my own room seems like a blessing right now. >_> And I miss being able to use an actual mouse. And I'll be able to install Mint using a live CD and BE FREE OF THE WINDOWS CURSE FOREVER HOORAY! That would be a truly exciting event.

There's just one catch-- I've never rigged before. I know how a desktop is put together, but there's a difference between knowing that and actually being able to put one together. Needless to say, that makes me a little nervous, since I might accidentally set it up the bomb or something. And an exploding computer would be bad, especially if I'm nearby. So, yeah, I'm going to have a lot of research to do. >.> Especially in terms of hardware compatibility for...well, just about everything, including the games. SL in particular is finicky about video cards, it seems.

Anyway, I seriously considered getting a fursuit instead. The catch is, I really want to make my own, as it's more personal that way, but I'm not that good at sewing yet, which is why I want to start with costuming. Hopefully I can put that together soon. :3 I'll work on a personal ears-and-tail set first, of course-- gotta start small!

...Well, that was a lot of backlog. ^^; Anyway, I may or may not post the WB essay tomorrow, if I don't...well, it's not gonna be up 'til Monday at best, I'll be too busy with AMA. Also, expect pics per usual. :D

Animazement. Was. AWESOME. Definitely the best con I've ever been to, in my admittedly short con-going experience. There were a few hang-ups along the way, namely due to poor planning and miscommunications on my part (sorry again Sediea!)

There's no tomorrow/I don't remember yesterday/I'm just living for tonight )

Overall, I had a really great time, and this has been probably my favorite con so far. Some of the staff could have been a lot nicer, it was well-organized, had some very talented cosplayers, even some fursuiters, a great dealer's room, and lots of fun activities. I'm going to do everything in my power to go again next year.

kk so who wants pics

This way please~ )

So, that's about the gist of it. ^_^ And for once, I actually enjoyed posing for pictures and such, which makes me think I might be a natural cosplayer/fursuiter.
rev_yurodivy: My chimera fursona smirking and tapping the brim of her hat. (sl avatar)
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I LOVE my new AnthroXtacy avatar. I've spent most of my time in SL since I got it just flying around and tweaking the settings. There's something indescribably awesome about having a something to point to and say "If I were to be able to chose my appearance in real life so that it would match how I feel on the inside, this is what I would look like." Anyway, I figured since I have it and I haven't seen any reviews for it, I might as well do one. Check it out below the cut! (Pics to come soon, BTW.)

Fly with me, forever higher/And with these wings, we'll set the world on fire )

And now that I have that out of the way...why isn't it Friday yet? ;_; I want to go to Animazement...I've got a shopping list and a to-do list and everything. (Heading up there with [livejournal.com profile] chimoari and Zylaa of The Flying Toasters fame will be there on Saturday!) Also, Chi, don't let me forget about bringing up Legendia and my comics. >_> So, I'm not cosplaying this year due to financial constraints, but finding someone I could go as where I won't have to pay an absurd amount of money to do so (being that I'm saving up for a fursuit here, and it's my primary concern) is one of the things on my to-do list. I am more than a little in love with the idea of cosplaying and just costuming in general. It's the chance to break away from my anxiety problems, I suppose. Again, I'd rather have a fursuit, but quite frankly doing either is my idea of a good time.

On the bright side, there's a dealer that's selling tails, so I might *finally* have a tail to go with my ears. And Aardvark T-Shirts will be there. I want the "Steampunk is the new black!" one so, so badly. See, I have to plan these things out in advance because otherwise I *will* overspend. >_> It's not so much kid in a candy store as it is starving person in a candy store. I almost never get opportunities to spend money like this, and when I do...well...let's just say the end results aren't kind on my bank account.

Nonetheless, I'm still looking forward to this. XD Expect a con report!

-I quit the ToSF. We'll see how long that lasts.

-I still kept writing my fanstories. Yay Ecliptica!

-Went to a different college. Boo Forsyth Tech!

-Got a mate. *waves at Tachyon Feathertail*

-Also became a furry. Another reason to never go back to ToSF.

-Still possibly asexual.

-Started writing furry fiction. Or at least tried to.

-Switched to Ubuntu because Windows is teh suxx0r.

-Got crazier. Now have been diagnosed with about every single anxiety disorder ever.

-Speaking of crazy, I now self-identify as an anarchist. ffffffff the systeeeeem.

-Had exciting adventures with Eugenics Guy in Criminal Justice Courses. Immediately decided to switch to Psychology instead, but have been permanently scarred and fearful for the future of our country with shining examples of law enforcement like him.

-Speaking of crazy again, split my personality into three fursonas and discovered I seem to have "species dysmorphia." More on that later.

-Learned lots about the LDS church and the Book of Mormon, got the Book of Mormon.

-Got into RPing again. Yay d20 Modern!

-Got a Clie. Got into audiophilia. Got lots of headphones and earbuds. Lusted after an iAudio D2. Still do not have an iAudio D2. Wishing to change this very soon.

-Missed most of you I lost contact with. ;_;
